Mother, mother of earth, creator of all being.  Mother, mother of a child, a child who has been lost, swallowed by the earth.  A history of a people, a place, reduced to rubble in 30 seconds.  This is the earthquake which has devastated the Italian region of Abruzzo in the early Monday morning hours on April 6th, 2009.  Hundreds have been killed, thousands are left without a home, living in flooded tents and hoping for a future that resembles something which they once knew.
